Salesforce Marketing Cloud | Subscription 1.0 Audience

The email and automation team will evaluate the request details and reach out with next steps. We are supporting single subscription audiences, one subscription audience per web form. We are collecting the details for both options in our intake form. To discuss your use case click "Request new subscriptions for SFMC" at the bottom of this page to submit a request.

If you are new to the university instance of SFMC please review our tools and moving to SFMC webpages.

When submitting a new Subscription request, the field in the form labeled "Subject:" will need a specific naming convention. We ask this to help keep all theemail requests organized. Please use this format in the "Subject:" field > SFMC-Sub: College/Unite name - Email name.

All subscription-based emails must have an opt-in and opt-out process to comply with the federal CAN-SPAM act. SFMC provides the opt-out functionality.

All subscriptions will be assigned a unique identifier along with the name of the communication. Keep these details for future reference for finding your subscription details in SFMC and to request support.

Subscription 1.0: Simple Audience (Single Subscription)

Last Name

Required (or use default value)

Form URL and Availability

The simple form is already available via a standard URL that handles accessibility, email validation, and CRM integration. The unique subscription identifier is appended at the end of the link.

Sample form link: cloud.t.osu.edu/sba_subscribe?id=<SubID>

Audience Data (.CSV) Requirements

When transferring existing subscribers from another platform or updating a current data extension list via a single .csv file, it is required that all fields have content. If first or last name data records are blank, you must add a default value (such as "constituent") to ensure the field is populated for every subscriber record before providing the list.

Submitting a single.csv file for upload

To submit the single .csv file for upload to SFMC, include the audience .csv file as a document in the request form for Subscription 1.0.

Details to create the single .csv file

  • Export all lists from current sources that should transfer to the subscription audience
    • Do not include role based email addresses in this list
    • Combine all lists into one single file that must contain the following fields: Email address, First name, Last name. Each of these fields are mandatory to send through SFMC. With the First and Last name fields, if the field is not populated, we suggest a default value of "constituent".
      • The combining of lists should include contacts contained in Listservs
        • Individual email addresses are needed to send from SFMC
        • Listserv mailing lists are to be used to send to the list from Microsoft Outlook or other Ohio State approved 1:1 messaging services when applicable
        • Listserv mailing lists are not to be used in combination with approved email service providers (ESPs) such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, that manage subscribes (consent) to receive commercial email and corresponding unsubscribes.
