Branded emails, why it matters. It is very important for all colleges and units to utilize the provided Ohio State branded emails to build a consistent relationship with email recipients. The more trust that is built with recipients, the more they will engage with the emails. The Office of Marketing and Communications provides branded designed email templates to align with brand compliance. It is important to maintain consistent brand positioning, experience, identity, voice, and recognition. Brand templates comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, to make emails accessible to the widest audience possible. Even minor changes in an email can remove an email's accessibility. Example, centering text or placing text within an image. Branded templates are regularly tested to ensure rendering is correct in common mailbox providers. In order to follow university email standards, the following modules are required for all marketing emails. Please see examples of the header and footer on the right. The template header and footer must be included in all emails. The header must include the Ohio State University primary logo, left aligned and 448 pixels wide, displayed at 231 pixels. The header must include the college or unit name in Ohio State scarlet, with an all caps font and aligned left. The footer may include an official secondary signature logo, left aligned and 448 pixels wide, displayed at 231 pixels. And note that all email footers must include unit name and mailing address. Commercial emails require an opt-out link to be CAN-SPAM compliant.
